Post Op Instructions for Laser Resurfacing
- Medication Should Be Taken As Directed
- Do not take aspirin or anti-coagulants for 2 weeks.
- Prescription pain medication can cause nausea, vomiting & constipation. Take 1/2 a pill with food (NOT on an empty stomach) if needed. You may take another 1/2 pill in 20 minutes and up to 2 every 4 hours as needed for pain.
- Activity
- Absolutely no sun exposure for 10-12 weeks.
- No sunbathing for one year.
- Use SPF 15 sunblock or higher whenever outdoors. (Zinc Oxide in block is best)
- You may shower.
- If treatment near eyes, no contacts for 5-7 days.
- Sleep with head elevated to minimize swelling, but if this is uncomfortable, sleep however you are comfortable.
- Ask when you may begin to wear make up.
- Wound Care
- Cleanse face at least twice daily with gentle soap & pat dry.
- Keep THIN film of Aquaphor on treated areas until they seal.
- Cold water soaks or a cool water spray mist may be used on treated areas for discomfort.
- You will see a gradual fading of redness for at least 6 months. Aquaphor can be worn underneath make-up & at bedtime.

- Temperature greater than 100 degrees

Odor from treated areas
- Intolerable & increasing pain
- Pus or foul smelling drainage from treated areas
- Sores developing on or around lips (cold sores)
