Instructions for General Post Op
- Medication Should Be Taken As Directed
- Do not take aspirin or anti-coagulants for 2 weeks.
- Prescription pain medication can cause nausea, vomiting & constipation. Take 1/2 a pill with food (NOT on an empty stomach) if needed. You may take another 1/2 pill in 20 minutes and up to 2 every 4 hours as needed for pain.
- Activity
- Minimal for the next 24 hours.
- Do not drive if you are taking pain medication.
- Good nutrition and fluid intake will help with healing.
- Wound & Personal Care
- Sleep any way that is comfortable for you.
- You may shower or bathe and use antibacterial soap to keep any suture lines clean. Keep nose splint dry.
- Change dressings if instructed to do so.
- Minimize swelling by using ice pack, or small bag of frozen peas over a moist cloth if instructed to do so.
- Call (262) 245-0535 ext. 2211 if you experience:
- Temperature greater than 100 degrees

Increased pain not relieve by medication
- Increased bleeding or excessive swelling at surgical site
- Malodorous or puss like drainage
